This is the new building of Nestlés social block at the Granero factory. This building is located in Chile. It was designed by GH+A / Guillermo Hevia. This building uses a variety of bioclimatic strategies, within a company policy of rational use of energy resources. It’s really economics in the 21th century. This building also uses the natural resources, passive ventilation systems, air-condition and cleaning for inside spaces, natural controlled illumination, and effective cost savings in the use of hydrological resources.
The project of this building has different programs: the first floor for employees facilities, the second floor for the administration, the third floor for laboratories and a educational room. The building is covered by a suspended roof, façades with a double-skin, the additional multiuse water pond serves as fire-water standby and cooling system.
This building also has double-skin which is made of corten steel. The corten steel is a material which oxidizes in a short term period, in order to create its own protection, neutralizing its deterioration. It wraps around the building and creates an avant-garde image. The construction protects against the solar radiation. It’s due to its separation to the building.
The water consumption of the restrooms uses high technology devices and designs. It’s automatic anti-vandal taps, guaranteeing the control water consumption, sending a strong signal of protecting both, natural resources and economics.
