The project is the transformation of a car dealership into a house for a family. Only the street facade the old garage is retained. To accurately adjust the boundaries of the parcel and to clear up space free of any element Structurally, we choose to build timber métallique.
La house is down from the front preserved and back wall of the plot, which reveals the necessary space for parking two cars on the front side street and create a courtyard on the back. Entry, bathrooms and bedrooms are ground floor and open onto the courtyard, protected by high stone walls neighboring buildings.
The living room is upstairs: one hundred square feet under a blanket in which the sloping underside plateaus is siding galvanized steel. Widely open and protected by curtains shading nets horticultural south on the terrace overlooking the courtyard, the view is framed in front of a window over the entire horizontal length. The house follows a rational plan that meets the program four bedroom, two bathrooms, a large living room and plenty of rangement.
Les same materials are used outside and inside : corrugated aluminum and black lacquered, black concrete, solid sheet, perforated metal and expanded metal steel frame galvanisé.La home and the siding boards are left exposed. The assembly structure is clearly legible.
From the street, the new house is invisible, hidden behind the facade of the former dealer. Once past the gate, its shell dark compressed between the buildings provides little information. The ground floor is a maze of rooms and corridors, this is the place of intimacy that opens onto the courtyard protected. Upstairs, reached by a wide staircase lit by a skylight, is an expansion of space to the skin of the house, without artifice.
