Maison house was designed by Van Der Merwe Miszewski Architects. This house is located in South Africa between the road into Franschhoek and the Berg river, in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley. The project of the house included the reuse of the barn which is located on the side and surrounded by several magnificent and ancient Oak trees. That barn and trees become the subject of the home design.
The verandas were covered the long facades. There’re also two additional wings which were placed next to the barn. Those spaces contained bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. The WERF provides private open space and motorcar access.
The house consists of walls in the landscape. The walls provide habitable space as well as an ordering device for external farm space. The panoramic view windows are located at the ends of the accommodation wings, looking out over the vineyard. There’s also a long pool which is separated from the vineyards.
