These are a few small garden design tricks from Steve Hislop to make your small garden seems bigger than it is and more beautiful. You should maximize the space in a small garden. Steven Hislop uses the special technique that can give the space becomes larger than it is. The utility elements like clothes line, rubbish bin, and storage areas must be taken into account.  Take the advantage of every dimension in the space, don’t just consider what you can do at ground level. Explore ways of creating interest at different levels and how to use the vertical spaces as well.

You should choose the right vegetation options for a special garden. We can grow vegetation on fence and screen in order to blur the physical boundaries of the garden.  It’s better if you use broad-leafed plants in smaller spaces, don’t use too many different types of plants. It will make a small area seems too chaotic and busy. You should also use a smaller selection of plants, choose one that look together, and group them and repeat them in small patterns.

The design ideas include using larger format pavers at ground level to create fewer lines in the space. Then, raising garden beds around the edge of the garden in order to create clean lines and prevent plants spilling over the floor. Create bench seating on the edges of raised planter boxes and take out the classical central outdoor furniture sitting. Besides that, partly hidden water features can create pleasing and soothing sound.
