Buchner Bründler Architect has given the greatest design, Switzerland pavilion in Shanghai Expo 2010. The Design of Switzerland pavilion is based on the core concept of sustainable development and completely reflective to how to combine the natural elements and high-tech elements together in an innovative way. Overlooking the model of Swiss national pavilion, its outline likes a future world existing in our imaginations.

This is an open space and the most exterior curtain is made of bean fiber that is not only capable of power generation but also of degradation. The design staff also adopt the Chinese Yin-yang theory to incorporate the cable car into the design as a game element so that the passengers can escape from the overloaded urban to the delightful natural world. It is well reflected in the entire building, to achieve an ingenious combination of high-tech and nature.

The most distinguished feature of the Swiss Pavilion is the chair lift ride. The chair lift will take people up and out to the roof garden from the inside pavilion about 10 minutes. The chairs are sheltered to ensure operation under the raining weather with a carrying capacity of 3,500 persons per hour. At the top end of the ramp of the exhibition area, visitors can see a 10-meter-high projection screen in the atrium. Switzerland is one of the earliest countries that confirmed on participation in Expo Shanghai and the first country that finalized the design plan of national pavilion.
