Denmark Pavilion in Shanghai Expo 2010

This is the beautiful Denmark pavilion in Shanghai Expo 2010. The project of Denmark Pavilion was designed by BIG with ARUP and 2+1. The pavilion is designed as a traffic loop created by the motion of city bikes and pedestrians tied in a knot. There’re over 300 free city bikes located upon the roofscape, offer the visitors a chance to experience biking in the pavilion. There’s a big pool at the centre of the pavilion. The water from Copenhagen’s harbor, the visitors can also swim at that pool.

At the centre of the pool, there’s a Little Mermaid statue that has become a symbol for Denmark. The pavilion is monolithic structure. It’s painted in white steel which keeps it cool during the summer. The roof of the pavilion is covered with light blue surfacing texture. The floor is covered with a light blue surfacing texture. Besides that, the floor features the blue cycle path that the bikes path through the building.
