Zigzag Arquitectura designed a minimalist house, Candela house. This house is located in an area which is surrounded by mountains, Aballe Dego, close to the River Sella in Spain. The family meeting place in this house is composed of 6 subfamilies with a total of 10 adults and 8 children. There’s a folded roof which is a product of the enforcement of the local regulations. It is built with flat concrete tiles.
The perforated skin protects its inhabitants from the outside. It also allow them to interact physically and visually with nature, with the seasons and with the weather. This elegant house has two exterior rooms. One faces to the north, another to the south. The hard casing of the house is perforated with holes of different sizes and positions, associating each one of them to the capturing of the surrounding landscape. The façades were made from a dark grey rendering coat and planks of iroko wood.
