This is a metal-sided house for animals and animal lovers. It is located in the New Mexico desert on the Rio Chama where there are a lot of wildlife, including hawks, eagles, coyotes, and rattlesnakes. This home has a special area just for pets in order to protect them from the local predators. Anderson Anderson Architecture has designed this Abiquiu House. The architect also utilizes a number of energy and resource-efficient construction techniques.
Anderson Anderson developed a thoroughly integrated animal house, with decks and patios protected with easily sourced chain link. That chain link easily fits in with the metal siding, and viewed in a certain light. The chain can be a protection for open spaces and creates texture against the metal siding. There’re also SIP panels for the walls and prefabricated trusses for the roof and floors. This Abiquiu House is very open and filled with light. It uses prefabricated parts and small footprint that help to minimize its impact on the landscape.
